In the summer of 2025, I had the privilege of joining the TAEC team in San Jose, CA as an Enterprise Marketing Intern. This internship has been a highly valuable experience that expanded upon my academic background, broadened my industry knowledge, and allowed me to learn directly from TAEC’s accomplished team.
During my eleven-week internship, my primary role was to develop Toshiba’s first ever email-marketing system, otherwise known as the EMS. To provide some background, the EMS is an email builder built specifically for the sales team that creates a standardized, brand-compliant format for all their emails.
As the sole intern on this project, I was responsible for handling a multitude of tasks. My work began with me scheduling numerous meetings with members of the sales team to gain their input and industry advice. From here, I drafted the copy for all the email templates and subject lines, utilizing Toshiba’s branded verbiage. After many revisions, I presented the final versions of the email templates and subject lines to Toshiba’s legal team for their approval. While the EMS content was being developed, I collaborated with the design team to identify solutions that would optimize the user experience. Once these solutions were implemented, I spent weeks testing the EMS to ensure its reliability and consistency. At this stage, the EMS had achieved success and was ready for launch.
During my internship role, I was responsible for presenting my work to individuals at different levels of the company. These individuals included members of the sales team, directors, and even the CEO. This was an opportunity I was especially excited about, as it allowed me to showcase my work to key leaders within the company. Fortunately for me, the EMS received great reviews and TAEC executives are already working on expanding the system to other departments within the company.
Not only has this internship enabled me to build industry connections, but it has also provided me with valuable opportunities to broaden my professional skill set. For one, I became particularly knowledgeable in structuring professional emails and using specific language to communicate with different audiences. I also expanded my understanding of marketing strategies, gaining insight into how the most successful companies in the world position and promote their products. Through multiple presentations, I advanced my public speaking abilities and grew more confident presenting in front of large groups of people. In addition, I trained the sales team on how to effectively use the EMS platform, strengthening my teaching ability.
One of the most memorable parts of my internship came from a simple idea sparked by the office ping pong table. As someone who enjoys playing, I saw it as a great way to connect with coworkers, but it often sat unused. After hearing this was usually the case, I decided to organize a tournament to change that. To my surprise, the event drew a lot of excitement, and my coworkers were eager to participate and take part in a fun, shared experience. Organizing the tournament is an accomplishment I’ll look back on proudly, as it brought people together and created great memories.
Entering my first corporate role, I was unsure of what the work culture would be like. But from day one, I felt welcomed and respected as a contributing member of the team. Every person that I had the pleasure of working with was approachable, supportive, and easy to collaborate with. From regular meetings to casual lunch breaks, the team made me feel genuinely valued and cared for.
Beginning my corporate journey with this internship was truly special. I would especially like to thank my supervisor, Tommy Nguyen, for his guidance as he went out of his way to make sure I had everything I needed to be successful. I am grateful for the learning opportunities this internship provided, and I plan to apply these skills and insights in my future career.
