It's hard to believe that my summer at Toshiba America Electronic Components (TAEC) is already coming to an end. The past few months have gone by incredibly fast, and it feels like just yesterday I was arriving on my first day. Looking back now, I am grateful for everything I learned, the people I met, and the opportunities I had throughout the summer.
One of the things that stood out to me most during my internship was the collaborative culture at TAEC. Located in the heart of Silicon Valley, TAEC provides an environment where learning happens every day, whether through team meetings, project discussions, or casual conversations around the office. Throughout the summer, I had the opportunity to meet and learn from people with a wide range of backgrounds and expertise. These interactions gave me a deeper understanding of the business and how different perspectives come together to support customers and drive decision-making.
Outside of project work, one of my favorite parts of the summer was getting to know the other interns. Although we worked on different projects, we quickly connected through presentations, lunches, and company events. What started as introductions grew into genuine friendships and became one of the most memorable parts of my internship experience.
Business Operations Dashboard
My primary project this summer was developing the Business Operations Dashboard, a reporting tool designed to help streamline access to information and improve user experience for business teams. Throughout the project, I worked closely with stakeholders to better understand their needs and identify opportunities to simplify existing processes.
Using Power BI, I developed an interactive dashboard that brings together information from multiple sources into a single, easy-to-use platform. The dashboard was designed to provide users with a more efficient way to access information and explore data, helping support day-to-day decision-making, and reducing the time spent navigating multiple reporting resources.
One of the most rewarding aspects of the project was seeing it evolve from an initial idea into a tool that could be used by multiple teams across the organization. Building the dashboard involved working with numerous data sources, cleaning and transforming data, solving technical challenges, and continuously refining the user experience based on feedback. Throughout the process, I strengthened my skills in Power BI, Power Query, Excel, data modeling, and business analytics while learning how to translate business requirements into practical solutions.
In addition to developing the dashboard, I had the opportunity to present my work to managers and business stakeholders throughout the summer. These presentations helped me improve my communication skills and taught me how to explain technical concepts in a way that focuses on business value and real-world impact.
Great Solutions Start with Understanding the User
One lesson that stood out to me throughout the internship was that great solutions start with understanding the user. At the beginning of the summer, I viewed the Business Operations Dashboard primarily as a technical project. As I worked more closely with account managers, sales teams, and business stakeholders, I realized that the real challenge was not simply building a dashboard, but creating something that people would genuinely find useful in their day-to-day work.
The dashboard improved every time I gathered feedback, listened to user concerns, and adjusted the design based on their needs. This experience taught me that business analytics is not just about creating reports and visualizations. It is about understanding how people use information and building solutions that help them work more effectively. By focusing on the user experience, I was able to create a tool that was both functional and practical.

As my internship comes to an end, I am incredibly grateful for everything I learned, the challenges I overcame, and the relationships I built along the way. This experience strengthened my interest in business analytics, gave me confidence in my ability to solve complex problems, and reinforced the importance of collaboration in creating meaningful business solutions.
Above all, I leave TAEC with lasting friendships, valuable professional experiences, and memories that I will carry with me throughout my career.
