The Next Generation of Industry Leaders

On 13 March 2025, TAEC San Jose hosted 11 undergrad students and two professors from Creighton University’s College of Business as part of the students’ class curriculum. The students traveled to the Bay Area for five days to visit companies that are known for business leadership and innovative practices in various industries. By attending in-person meetings, the students were able to interact directly with business and marketing professionals to gain insight on the techniques, applications, and practices commonly applied to create today’s marketing and social media content.

 Next Generation Industry Leaders

Tommy Nguyen, TAEC HDD Channel Marketing Senior Manager, led the meeting, and in his presentation, he detailed the steps on creating visually captivating and informative website pages. Tommy explained the importance of understanding your brand and how every customer touchpoint should convey the same vibrance/excitement that represents your brand. A great website does more than inform—it delivers a seamless, visually engaging experience. It’s important to remember that as technology evolves and AI reshapes our world, the motivation of a customer remains the same. Customers want fast, relevant, and frictionless interactions. That's the same today as it was a decade ago or 100 years ago.

After graduating, I also entered the marketing field as a Marketing Specialist at an HDD company. My first days at work were filled with both excitement and fear. During the company orientation, thoughts were racing through my mind. “What am I doing here, did college prepare me for this?” Fast forward 35+ years, and I am now one of the people sitting at the other end; however, what I saw was very different than what I felt during my college days. The students I met were much more confident, and this one week on-site interaction with industry professionals will further boost their confidence level and composure. The students were engaged and had lively interaction throughout Tommy’s presentation. As the meeting ended, I left feeling confident that some of these bright-minded young adults will become the next generation of industry leaders.
