Tier 2 Business-Critical Servers and Storage Systems

The MG04ACA Enterprise Capacity HDD models provide capacities up to 4 TB and 7,200 rpm performance, in a robust design engineered for nearline business-critical workloads. Models utilize industry-standard 3.5-inch 26.1 mm height form factor and Advanced Format sector technologies for optimum capacity and data reliability.

512e or 4Kn Advanced Format sector technology models are available. 4Kn models (MG04ACAxxxA) offer optimum performance and compatibility with the 4K applications and operating environments. 512e models (MG04ACAxxxE) provide support for legacy applications and operating environments that require 512 B sector lengths. 512e models support Toshiba Persistent Write Cache technology which helps enhance performance with handling data in the event of a sudden loss of power.

MG04ACA are equipped with a SATA 6.0 Gbit/s interface and MG04SCAxxEx models are equipped with a 12 Gbit/s SAS interface to help save rack space and reduce the footprint and operational burden of business critical servers and storage systems.

The Enterprise Capacity HDD 512 native, 7,200 rpm models (MG04ACA-N, MG04SCAxxEN) come in a robust design up of 1, 2 and 4 TB in a 3.5-inch form factor. Features of MG04ACA-N series, with a SATA 6 Gbit/s interface, MG04SCAxxEN series, with a 12 Gbit/s SAS interface, include industry-standard 512 native format sector technology for environments and applications that require 512 native. Model options supporting Sanitize Instant Erase (SIE) are also available. This feature randomizes data instantly in case of unintended disclosure in the event that drives are re-purposed or moved outside of data center environments.

  • Instructions for Dispose
Please dispose in accordance with local rules.
  • Instructions for erase of the data on the HDDs in case of dispose or transfer
HDDs incorporated in personal computer or several home appliance may record personal data and/or other important data as signal. In order to avoid disclosing such data, it is important to erase it when you dispose or transfer the HDDs.
  • Product image may represent a design model.
  • Definition of capacity: Toshiba defines a megabyte (MB) as 1,000,000 bytes, a gigabyte (GB) as 1,000,000,000 bytes and a terabyte (TB) as 1,000,000,000,000 bytes. A computer operating system, however, reports storage capacity using powers of 2 for the definition of 1GB = 230 = 1,073,741,824 bytes and therefore shows less storage capacity.  Available storage capacity (including examples of various media files) will vary based on file size, formatting, settings, software and operating system, such as Microsoft Operating System and/or pre-installed software applications, or media content.  Actual formatted capacity may vary.
  • A kibibyte (KiB) means 210, or 1,024 bytes, a mebibyte (MiB) means 220, or 1,048,576 bytes, and a gibibyte (GiB) means 230, or 1,073,741,824 bytes.
  • MTTF (Mean Time to Failure) is not a guarantee or estimate of product life; it is a statistical value related to mean failure rates for a large number of products which may not accurately reflect actual operation.  Actual operating life of the product may be different from the MTTF.
  • Read and write speed may vary depending on the host device, read and write conditions, and file size.
  • SIE: Sanitize Instant Erase. SIE is a function to invalidate the data recorded on the magnetic disks at a blink.
  • The HDDs which have any security function may not be available in the countries where the use of such HDDs is prohibited or limited due to export control and local regulations.
  • "2.5-inch" and "3.5-inch" mean the form factor of HDDs or SSDs. They do not indicate drive's physical size.
  • Workload is a measure of the data throughput of the year, and it is defined as the amount of data written, read or verified by commands from the host system.
